Trail Running the Akron Metro Parks.

I'm fortunate that I'm able to run on my lunch break at work. Every day I change into my running gear and head out the main entrance of the building and onto the streets of Akron. Sand Run Metro Park is only about 1.5 miles from the front door of the building.

Averaging between 5 to 6 miles per run, I get to traverse deep into the park before heading back towards work. It's a great way to relieve stress and burn calories at the same time. The fresh air and outdoor scenery is just an added bonus. Creek crossings, waterfalls and tall trees adorn the path as you meander through the park and across it's bridges. I've seen deer, snakes, countless birds and plenty of dogs and people on these daily "escapes". Here are some pics I took on a day my legs needed a break from running.

If you're not a runner, maybe it's time to start thinking about it. Odds are you'll feel better and appreciate the stress relief... all while losing a few pounds and taking in some new scenery. How can you beat that!?

Ray's Photography Blog

My 8 year old, Ellie. When I first got my Canon Rebel I took her out to the backyard to practice portrait photography. I was trying to get her to do these funny poses and she started laughing - that's when I got this shot, which will forever be one of my favorites. So genuine.
